We are pleased to announce that Mercury Insurance recently made some favorable changes to their
payment plans. New customers, who have at least 6 months continuous prior insurance with no more than a
1 day lapse, now have the option to pay 1/6th (16%) of the total 6 month premium for your down payment
instead of the 1/3rd (33%) that was required before. Lowering down payments has been proven to greatly
help new customers by relieving some of the economic pressure related to purchasing auto insurance.

Toward the end of December our Announcement and Breaking News columns alerted drivers of enhanced
Florida Highway Patrol enforcement during the holiday season. On January 13, 2010 the Department
released preliminary results of the “beefed up” campaign.” Troopers wrote almost 47,000 tickets and
arrested 537 persons for DUI. “During the campaign, our troopers focused on driving practices that put
motorists at higher risk for a crash," said Col. John Czernis, director FHP.

There's a new Florida law, in effect Jan 1, 2010, which mandates accident prone drivers to a driver
education class. Florida licensed drivers who have 3 or more at-fault car accidents in a 3 year period are
required to successfully complete the course. Any driver who has a crash now and 2 or more since 2007 will
be notified by the department of their responsibility. The course is 16 hours long, including 4 hours of driver
training in the car, and must be completed within 90 days of notification.
